Mental & emotional well being services
The school counselor plays a crucial role in providing counseling services to students, supporting their personal, social, and academic development, and contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment.
Following are the services provided by the School Counseling Department
1. Individual Counseling:
- Regular one-on-one counseling sessions with students facing various personal, social, and emotional challenges are conducted.
- Issues such as academic stress, peer relationships, family conflicts, self-esteem, and behavioral concerns are addressed in personal sessions.
- Evidence-based counseling techniques are utilized to help students develop coping strategies and enhance their overall well-being.
2. Group Counseling:
- Group counseling sessions on specific topics such as anger management, study skills, self-confidence, and conflict resolution are facilitated.
- Safe and supportive environment for students is created to express themselves freely , share experiences, and learn from one another.
- Implemented group activities and discussions to promote teamwork, empathy, and effective communication skills.
3. Career Counseling:
- Students are assisted to explore their career interests, identify their strengths, and set educational and vocational goals at the right time.
-Aptitude tests are conducted, personality assessments, and individualized career counseling sessions are given to help students make informed decisions about their future.
4. Academic Support:
- Collaboration with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify students experiencing academic difficulties.
- Development of intervention and strategies, study skills workshops, and time management techniques to improve students' academic performance.
- Monitoring students' progress, providing ongoing support, and offering academic resources tailored to their individual needs with the help of the Special Educator.
5. Crisis Intervention:
- Prompt response to students in crisis, including situations involving mental health concerns, bullying, or other emergencies.
- Implementation of appropriate safety measures and student referrals to specialized services when necessary.
6. Parental Involvement:
- Parent workshops and seminars are organized to enhance their understanding of adolescent development, mental health, and effective parenting strategies.
- Provided individual consultations to parents regarding their child's academic progress, social-emotional well-being, and college/career planning.
7. Classroom Presentations:
- Interactive classroom presentations on topics such as stress management, bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and mental health awareness.
- Fostered discussions and provided resources to help students develop healthy coping skills and maintain positive relationships.
8. Community Partnerships:
- Collaboration with external professionals to organize guest speaker sessions, career fairs, and other events to broaden students' exposure to various professions and opportunities.
9. Collaboration with Specialists: In Mps International, We focus on collaboration and communication with specialists, such as speech therapists (Dr.Snehlata Kabra), occupational therapists Dr. Deepak Pancholi, and behavior analysts (Ms.Gulsharan Kaur) .Their expertise enhances the effectiveness of interventions and support strategies.
